As this forum implies, this is a suggestion only.
When I applied to SoS (can I call it that?), I felt that the application wasn't very in-depth, it didn't explore the person behind the character. Now, granted, our current requirements are rather lax because we're building the guild, but I'd like to propose a few changes:
- I think the first question, "How did you hear about Syndicate of Shadows," could be reduced to checkboxes or radio buttons intead of an open textbox. An option for "other" and a small textbox for explanations could be introduced but, if I were developing an application, I would try to make it as manageable as possible.
- I would add another open question or two. It's been my experience that good writing correlates with, well, intelligence, of course, but maturity level. I want good, decent people in SoS; play skill is secondary to me. I'm not certain if that aligns with the guild's values, but that's what's important to me. Maybe "What do you want to accomplish in the game?" or "Why are you playing SWTOR?" or even a "Tell us about yourself."
- I think the availability questions imply a certain hard-core-ness of us and I don't think that's what we want to convey. If we dedicate too much of our application to play time, we might give the impression that we want them on all the time, or as much as possible. I was a little taken aback and didn't quite know how to answer. I did check all the boxes because I am able to play everyday, but it's only in the evenings. I didn't want to give the wrong idea so, I explained my answer in the "How many hours..." question. I'm not sure if it accepted my answer. It may have just returned an "error: this person is an idiot" message, which is true and I appreciate you overlooking this and inviting me anyway.
This merits another tl;dr: checkboxes for "How did you hear..." and moar open ended questions, less availability ones.

But honestly, good suggestions.
